Project:  Timing Chest Oil Mist Resolution

The winter / spring of 2024 with the Vantage getting minimal use presented a great opportunity to take a longer look at the slight oil mist that was first noticed forming on the timing chest the previous year.

This is a well known trait of all pre 2010 Vantages and I was always aware that it could happen to my Vantage as the car ages.

A trip over to AHM to get their opinion on the way forward, reached the following conclusions:

1. Oil leakage is minimal and one way forward could be to simply leave it and check at each service.

2. Its a long way short of some Adie and Jordan had seen with oil puddling on the undertray and flooring.

3. If left it can logically only further deterioate each year on year with use and passage of more time.

4. Other tasks such as replacing brake pipes could be easily carried out with the subframe off the car.

5. Labour is the significant cost element with 3 full mandays required for the timing chest task alone.                The "Go Ahead" Was Given !

The timing chest, brake pipe change & any other logical works encountered with the subframe removed
