Project Body & Underside Winter 2014/15
Following the Winter 2014 "Project Zero" changing each and every service and wear item during the months that the vehicle is not used, the 2015 winter project is based on a focus around minor bodywork issues that ideally need a resolution.
The project is based around two main areas of focus:
Bodywork Improvements:
-
Bodywork improvements covering a scratch on the off side lower front wing area about 25mm long, by say 1mm wide. In order to resolve it will need to be prepared, sprayed and blended into the surrounding area.
-
The front bumper has a scratch on the near side (caused by myself) this was about 30mm long, by say 1mm wide and though this covered a small area, the ideal resolution is to remove the entire front bumper cover and have it prepared and sprayed off the vehicle along with the sills.
-
The sill covers on both sides are in need of paint improvements, at some stage in the cars life the Aston paint protection film usually fitted to the front area of the rear wing has been removed. This has lead to stone impact damage (gravel rash) on the sills.
-
Both sills will be removed from the car, prepared, sprayed and refitted with the margin seals replaced.
-
There is some very minor surface damage (only visible with the tailgate open) to the lip of the rear bumper cover, underneath the tailgate slam area, likely to be caused by slamming the tailgate with the battery charger cable in situ. This has at some time been touched in by a previous owner and that poor touching in needs an improved solution. This will be flattened, finished and blended in along the lip area of the boot
-
J.D Coachworks are carrying out all of the spraying, with the front bumper cover and both sills being removed such that they can spray them off the vehicle without the compromise of masking, the need of blending or any risks of overspray.
Underside Improvements:
-
Wing liners are untidy, all chimney nuts and associated bolts will be changed
-
Foam filled PVC envelopes mounted inside each liner have become tatty, these need to be remade with a robust sound deadening solution, while maintaining the appearance of the originals
-
The underside needs to be cleaned off thoroughly, removing any traces of salt, mud and general dusty matter. The underside will then be sprayed with PTFE solution, which will give a clear finish but provide protection for some time, while not being visible in any way.
