Vanquish
THE STORY
This site is dedicated to Aston Martin Vanquish J28 CCC for all who choose to view
The objective is to provide a summary of my ownership & an insight into history
PROJECT ENHANCEMENT - 2025
The Opportunity to further improve the driving experience and underside protection
The Project Scope Would Cover The Following Elements
1. Spray protection on the underside to impede any potential for corrosion
-
Lear ACF 50 Anti Corrosion Fluid was sprayed across the vehicle under side previously in 2021. it seemed sensible to re-coat the suspension, under panels, rear subframe, brake pipes etc, to assure the very best levels of protection into the future.
-
I was particularly keen to repeat this after seeing a slightly older Vanquish being worked on at AHM. The rear subframe was covered in a surface rust which had been able to get hold as the original paint had flaked away leaving bare steel open to attack from the elements.
2. Enhance the Appearance of the Vanquish in Areas Not Usually seen.
-
Underside accumulated dirt and cleaned off.
-
All wing liners removed, cleaned off and sprayed with Scotchguard fabric sealer.
-
Underpanels pressure washed, cleaned and polished.
-
Any rusting or tired nuts bolts etc replaced.
-
Sills cleaned off on the underside and ceramic polished to provide ongoing protection.
3. Enhance the Driving Experience of the Vanquish With Some Improvements
-
Two of the existing PZero Tyres were now 10 years old and as such its best practice to replace them, even though they all had 6mm plus of tread remaining, the decision was to source replacements.
-
The decision was made to replace all 4 with Michelin PS4S a tyre with a great following among all Aston owners and a tyre I had previously fitted onto my Vantage in 2023 with pleasing results.
-
The tyres were purchased through the A.M.O.C Michelin partnership scheme and delivered from Camskill in Cumbria. The wheels were dropped off for the tyres to be fitted onto the loose wheels and balanced, this approach avoided any doubts about the potential for the car to be damaged by a tyre fitter without the Aston knowledge of exactly where to jack the Vanquish from.
4. Full Vehicle Steering & Suspension Geometry Set Up
-
While the wheels were balanced off the car when the new Michelin's were fitted by Road & Wheel I wanted to ensure the complete suspension was set up the way it was when it left the Gaydon Factory
-
The Vanquish was returned to AHM Aston Martin Care for a complete professional 4 wheel alignment and full geometry check. Some adjustments were carried out and I much appreciated their assurance that all was now within the factory specifications.
